a safe place to explore your faith
During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, First Baptist Church is offering one combined worship service at 10 a.m. Sundays, available in person or by live stream online.
During the pandemic, we have special requirements for worship to maintain a safe place of worship. We require those who are worshiping with us to wear masks and maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance from each other. You can stay up to date about our pandemic response here.
[Below is a description of typical Sundays prior to the pandemic.]
First Baptist Church offers two worship services each Sunday. The morning service is a traditional service held in our sanctuary, while the afternoon service is a modern service held in our Fellowship Hall. Similar messages are presented at each, but with different formats.
Worship: 10 a.m. Worship in the sanctuary.
Nursery Care: A clean and friendly environment allows children (infant through pre-k) to play. Enter through glass door off Jackson Street, take stairs directly in front of entrance to second floor. Nursery is to your left.

Founded in 1839, First Baptist Church has been a vital presence of God’s hope and grace in downtown Jackson for more than 180 years. On the corner of South Jackson and Cortland Street, the congregation continues to live this legacy through mission and outreach to the community.
First Baptist is a place to be known by God and friends. Come, explore faith, find nurture for the soul, and a place of belonging.
